In an age where self image issues and diminishing self respect is plaguing the society, a good definition essay can prove to be enlightening.
If someone were to ask you what the meaning of the word definition is, what would you say? That definition would mean that the definition defines something, right? Well, eve though it may seem overly simple, but that is exactly what a definition is.
But the question really is about the definition of a definition essay. So what is a definition essay? Well, typically, a definition paper would clearly define, state or illustrate something for the readers.
Any content is written by the writer with a simple purpose, the purpose of communicating with the readers. So, now, if what the writer is writing is overly complex for the readers to understand, then does that not defeat the very purpose because of which the writer wrote whatever it is they wrote in the first place?
In other words, while defining something, define it in simple words. Use simple expressions such that the readers can easily understand it, such that the readers do not have to read the material multiple times to assimilate that what the writer has written.
First of all, forget for a moment that the content that is going to be written is about self-respect. For now, let us just look at it as a simple paper with words that need to be arranged in a meaningful order. Then the first thing that you need to do is decide the number of paragraphs that need to be in the essay, typically this would be five: three body paragraphs, one introduction paragraph, and one conclusion paragraph.
Now comes the question, what to write about? Well, we could not really tell you what to write, that it for you to decide, after all, you are the person who intends to write, not us. But here is a helpful pointer, do not be polemic or contentious, but be warm and fostering in your writing. The paper is about self-respect.
Another helpful pointer would be the use of evidence or illustrations with the claims that you make in all of your body paragraphs, it gives them more ground to hold. In the conclusion, just reiterate and stress upon what you have already written, and typically write the introduction last because by then you will know what to introduce precisely.
